What is Pong & Breakquest?

"Pong & Breakquest" is a tribute to two of Atari's arcade classics. It's one of the first projects I made completely in GameMaker: Studio and I chose Pong and Breakout because they're very easy to learn and make them. Like in original Atari games, they are very simple and easy to play. In addition, there is another game, which is mashup of Pong and Breakout, named Breakout Battle. It also have a full-screen option and Xbox controller support for Pong only.

Gameplay Synopsis

There are three different types of games in this project: Pong, Breakquest, and Breakout Battle. When you select Pong, you could have an option to play against a computer or against your friend/opponent. When playing against a computer, it have three different levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert. When playing against your friend/opponent, there are different type of modes, such as Original Pong and Air Hockey. When starting/playing Pong, the goal is for each to reach eleven points and winning a game.

When you select Breakquest, which is similar to Atari's Breakout, you can play up to 20 levels. Each time you activate a ball, it will hits any block, except for gold blocks, and when all of the blocks disappear, you will be able to advance to the next level. If you fail to return a ball, you lose a life and when losing all of the lives, the game ends.

Breakout Battle is a cool mashup of Pong and Breakquest. It can be played with two players only and there are three different kind of stages to select. When Breakout Battle starts, the pong ball will activate and any player will try to block a ball from hitting your blocks, like in Breakout. When your block gets hit three times, it disappear. When a player fails to block any ball from going inside your outside room, the other player is declared a winner.
